We have to first consider what we mean by education. It makes sense to prepare students to pay bills, save for retirement, instal a toilet, and clean their gutters. Instead, we force young people into anxiety-induced frenzies over the preparation for standardized exams that are not meant to truly measure their aptitude…rather their scores serve as a convenient method of determining where funding is allocated in schools.
