Honors Colleges…an often overlooked alternative to the Ivy League

When you think of an elite education you might think of the Ivy League. The most prestigious band of universities to seemingly exist are Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Cornell, etc. They have endowments up in the billions, Alumni networks that stretch across all industries, and rankings consistently at the top of the world. It is the definition of higher education and all its glories, right?
There’s a not-so-new kid on the block and their name is Honors Colleges. Typically a sub college in a larger main university, an honors college aims to bring a liberal arts akin education to select individuals with outstanding academic achievement. Having those 6 letters of honors under your diploma should be equivalent to “Harvard”.
Honors colleges honestly bring a better education than many of these prestigious colleges. An important aspect of college is the financial side. If a person gets riddled with debt and loans, is the education even worth it? How can a person live a thriving life if loans from an undergraduate education are planting him onto the earth? Honor Colleges are typically cheaper than top universities, like the Ivy League. Honors Colleges come with a plethora of scholarships unique to those in the honors college.
